Butcher docked for allegedly being in possession of stolen radio

A butcher, Odey Omeka,  was on Thursday docked in a Grade I Area Court , Karu in Abuja for allegedly being in possession of a stolen radio set and one microphone.

The police charged Omeka, 42, with being in possession of stolen items reasonably suspected to be stolen and belonging to gang of thieves.

The Judge, Mr Umar Mayana,  admitted the defendent to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Mayana adjourned the case until Feb. 23 for hearing.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Edwin Ochayi told the court that on Jan. 22, the defendant was caught with a radio set and one microphone .

He told the court that the matter was reported at Asokoro Police Station by team of rapid response squad posted to Gwarzo round about led by Insp Julius Uwoeye.

The offence, Ochayi added, contravened the provisions of sections 319A and 306 of the Penal Code.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
