Businessman jailed five years imprisonment for stabbing neighbour

A Karu Upper Area Court in Abuja on Tuesday sentenced a 22-year-old businessman, Musa Uba, to five years imprisonment for stabbing his neighbour with a bottle.
Delivering his judgment, the judge, Malam Ishaq Hassan gave the convict an option of N10,000 fine.
Hassan also ordered the convict to pay N20,000 as damages to the complainant and warned him to desist from committing crime.
The convict, who resides in Asokoro, Abuja was charged with causing grievous hurt.
He pleaded guilty to the charge.
Earlier, the Prosecution counsel,Mr Olarewaju Osho told the court that the complainant, Mohammed Usman of same address with the convict reported the matter at the Asokoro Police Station on Feb. 2.
The police said the convict attacked the complainant when he advised him against substance abuse.
“The convict broke a bottle and slashed the complainant on his jaw and hand.
”The complainant is currently receiving treatment in a hospital,” Osho told the court.
The offence, the police said, contravened the provisions of Section 243 of the Penal Code.
