Business fashion colours

By: Chidinma Promise

Hi fashionable! In this week’s article, we’ll be looking into the fashion colors for your business days/outings. Yes, you might not have known it but there are certain colors that should and should not be worn in a work environment. This is because as much as the phrase ‘dress how you want to be addressed’ can be true in some spheres, the choice of color or colors to work says a lot about your composure, ability and how you wish to be addressed by necessary personalities in your ‘work environment/sphere.’

These colors apply to both genders so, there shall be no stating of sex or category in this week’s article. The following are top significant business colors; what they depict for you and what they demand from those in the same workspace with you:

Black: This is no surprise as this color is literally appropriate in every season and weather. This bold and sometimes associated by archaic minded Nigerians to ‘demonic supernatural forces’ is a statement color that exudes that you are confident, open to new challenges, disciplined and goal oriented: this in turn commands respect, regard and causes other business teammates to ideally lean towards acknowledging your work input and presence as significant.

Brown: This is one color that is similar to black in its generic nature. It is a color that depicts strength, reliability, wholesomeness, stability and warmth: this in turn demands a level of trust from your work colleagues to you. Brown like black can be paired with other neutral colors and for individuals with a ‘loud’ personality, bright colored clothing items can also be paired.

Blue: This color in the workspace depicts creativity, earthiness, wisdom and insight. As a bottom, a top clothing feature or work accessory, blue stands out when merged with black, grey, red and any other primary color.

Grey: This is one largely overlooked color. Grey like white is peaceful, depicts solitude and sanity of mind, balance, elegance and a level of maturity that demands those in your work space to acknowledge official boundaries and your personal boundaries, if there are any publicly stated or expressed.

Beige: This is an earthy color that declares that one is conservative yet flexible and dependable. As regards conservation, this might be a negative fit when it comes to seeming approachable to work mates but can be very healthy (in defining healthy professional work relationship with work mates) It can be paired with colors like blue, yellow, red, green and any bright color.

White: This is a very earthy color that depicts boundary, freshness, simplicity and maturity. This is a good color on days when you want/need to hold or head statement presentation meetings or pitch. It can be paired with subtle inclined primary colors. White can also depict a sense of composure and in turn can cause others around you to give you due regard.

You’re welcome.
