Buildings collapse: NSE advocates synergy among professionals

The Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Yobe chapter, says the lack of proper coordination and synergy among professionals in the building industry is one the factors responsible for building collapse in Nigeria.

Engr. Mai Modu, the Chairman of the association, stated this while marking the commencement of the 2023 Engineering Week on Monday in Damaturu.

Modu said people need to understand that the building industry is a conglomeration of different experts and professionals such as architects, engineers, and builders among others.

“So there is need for unity and understanding among us for better results.

“It is high time for all experts in the building industry across the country to understand that the key actors must work together to achieve quality and standard.

“Anything contrary to this is nothing but compromise,” he said.

He commanded Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, for providing a level-playing ground for members of the association.

He added that engineers in Yobe had been contributing immensely to the growth and advancement of the state.

Engr. Zaji Bunu, the Chairman of Regulations and Monitoring of the association in the state, emphasised the need to work selflessly for the betterment the country.

“Governments at all levels and indeed individuals must ensure that only patriotic and professional people are given a project to handle,” he said.
