Building collapses: Most clients don’t value Professional advices — NSE President

…Confers fellowship Awards to Shell MD, Engr. Aiboni, 51others

The 32nd President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Tasiu Sa’ad Gidari-Wudil has disclosed that one of the major causes of building collapses in the country is that most clients don’t engage nor listen to Professional advices from Engineers.

He mad the disclosure during an exclusive Interview with Nigerian NewsDirect at the 21st Fellowship Conferment Lecture and Ceremony held in Abuja on Tuesday.

The President said “ Building collapses has been a serious issue we are battling, infact in the process of building there are many other Professional involved but the most important person is the client. Most clients do not value Professional advices which is responsible for the several collapses in the country.”

He tasked on the 52 newly awarded fellows of Engineers to be law abiding and to operate within the regulations laid down by the engineering Profession.

“We’re conferring 52 fellows today and my candid advice to them to be good Ambassadors of the Engineering Profession in rendering services to humanity.”

The NSE boss tasked on the newly fellows to approach legitimate methods in carrying out their activities to avoid activities that will tarnish their images and that of the Profession.

Among the top dignitaries that were inducted into the fellowship of Engineers are the First Female Managing Director Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Company (SNEPCo), Engr. Elohor Juliana Aiboni, Former Director of Institute of Petroleum Studies Uniport, Prof. Mike Obi Onyekonwu,  Lagos Area Manager Inland Waterways Authority, Engr. Lara Sarat Braimah among others.
