Build your capacity, skills to global standards, Official advises youth

Mr Ogundairo Oluwadamilare, General Manager, Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, has advised young entrepreneurs to identify their skills, build their capacity and business skills to global standard.

Oluwadamilare spoke to the News Reporter at the sideline of a Bootcamp organised by Potter’s Gallery Initiative for Persons with Disability on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said the programme was aimed at building the capacity of youths with disabilities to ensure they participated in the creative industry.

“I want the artists to ensure they get their skills right and then understand the business environment of today’s market.

” Gone are the days an artist will release an album and be chasing pirates on the streets in Alaba market.

“Nowadays, an artist sings and next thing he is sharing links for fans to download, that means the business Patten has changed.

“Times are changing and the income streams too have changed and even become wider, so we should change with it,”he said.

He urged the youth to know their skills and build themselves to be capable of competing in the global market.

“Like I said, today there is Netflix and we are having a lot of local content on Netflix that are getting global acclaim.

” The market is a free Market and don’t discriminate, good music is good music anywhere and creativity is a universal phenomenal,“he said.

He said that once a product is well refined and presented and of appeal to the global audience, nobody will discriminate against it.

The general manager urged persons with disability to be excited about the global realities of the current creative industry.
