Buhari visits jigawa, donates N10m to Majiya fire victims

Former President Muhammadu Buhari paid a sympathy visit to Jigawa State following the devastating oil tanker explosion that claimed the lives of 182 people and left many others hospitalized.
The visit, which took place on Tuesday, was warmly received by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Usman, at the Government House in Dutse. Buhari’s visit brought comfort to the bereaved families and the people of Jigawa State.
Upon arrival, the former President visited Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital in Dutse, where some of the victims were receiving treatment. He met with the surviving patients and expressed his sadness over the loss of lives, offering words of encouragement to those recovering.
During his visit to the hospital, President Buhari donated N10 million to support the victims and their families.
This generous gesture demonstrated his commitment to alleviating the suffering of those affected by the tragedy.
Also, Buhari, accompanied by his entourage, paid a courtesy visit to the Jigawa State Governor at the Government House in Dutse.
In his brief speech, he prayed for protection from future incidents and offered prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased, providing comfort to the grieving families.
In response, Acting Governor Aminu Usman Gumel, who warmly received the former President on behalf of the Governor, thanked Buhari for the visit and the donation. He assured that the funds would be used judiciously.
“Your presence underscores the unity and support for the people of Jigawa State,” he emphasized.
Acting Governor Engr. Gumel also praised Buhari’s leadership and sympathy, stating, “Your visit has brought hope and solace to our people during this difficult time.”
He assured the public that the state government would work tirelessly to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Notable figures who accompanied former President Buhari included former Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika, former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Ali Pantami, and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha, among others.
Buhari’s visit was widely appreciated by the people of Jigawa State, who saw it as a gesture of goodwill and concern.
The visit added joy to the victims with President Buhari’s reassurance that the federal government would provide necessary support to Jigawa State, ensuring that the victims’ families receive adequate assistance and care.
