Buhari condemns killing of Eze Ignitius Asor, others, orders investigation

President Muhammadu Buhari is saddened by the killing of Eze Ignitus Asor, the traditional ruler of the Obudi-Agwa community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State by suspected armed gangs, a terse statement from the presidency has indicated.
Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu on Tuesday quoted Buhari as condemning the act in strong terms and ordering security agencies to swing into action to unravel the root cause.
“The President has directed security agencies in the State to thoroughly investigate the dastardly act and ensure that the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law,” Shehu noted in the statement to the media.
The presidency also quoted Buhari as commiserating with family, friends, the Obudi-Agwa community, as well as all those affected by the attacks.
He prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured while acknowledging the spirited efforts by the Imo State Government at improving the security situation.
Buhari also admonished all Imo residents and citizens to robustly support the collective efforts of state actors and members of the local community to keep everyone safe.
Newsmen recalls that since the incumbent governor Hope Uzodinma assumed duties, there had been security challenges in the South East state, causing blame games among stakeholders in the state.
This latest attack comes as Buhari had variously boasted that he was bent on leaving a secured Nigeria behind when leaving office on May next.
Newsmen equally recalls that Buhari has spent a better part of his administration battling challenges associated with terrorism, including banditry, kidnappings among others.
