BREAKING: History as ‘GOAT’ Messi gets first-ever World Cup with Argentina

By Matthew Denis

Lionel Messi has ended the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) debate as Argentina beat France 4-2 in a penalty shootout in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final at Lusail Stadium in Lusail, Qatar.

The 35-year-old, currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), fell to the floor at full-time in a sign of huge relief.

It has been a long road for the seven-time Ballon d’Or, who finished runners-up in 2014, where Argentina suffered a 1-0 loss against Germany in the final.

France were poor in the first half of the contest and could not test Emi Martinez in the Argentine net properly but all thanks to Mbappe’s hattrick that rescued an equaliser for the French team. It was a game full of suspense.
