The Lagos State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, had an exclusive interview with Punch Newspapers to speak about his recent endorsement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
His endorsement of the APC candidate stirred up mixed reactions amid the lingering resentment by Christians against the Muslim-Muslim ticket the APC intends to field in the 2023 presidential election.
He revealed that he merely spoke when he was at a program where Tinubu’s wife was in attendance, and she gave an account of her stewardship in the upper chambers for 12 years. He told the audience that she and her husband have done a lot for the church and more for the body of Christ.
During the interview, Bishop Stephen Adegbite revealed that Bola Tinubu Gave five plots of land to the Lagos State Christian Association of Nigeria for a secretariat in Ikeja. He said that the ploys of land were placed in the central business area of Ikeja, not in other places like Badagry, Alimosho, Epe, or Ikorodu.
He also spoke on the fact that some clerics have cautioned their colleagues not to turn the pulpit into campaign platforms. He stated that the pulpit is not being abused, but politicians can attend church services and clerics can pray for them.
