Boko Haram attacks Churches
…Christians were killed, save our souls
A Nigerian victim of the 2005 religious violence in the Northern Nigeria city of Kano, Ken Samuel who was born on the 1st October, 1983 in Benin City, Edo state but based in Kano state lost his father and two siblings, has appealed to the Italian government to save his life.
He said his father, brother, and sister were killed in the violence orchestrated by the terror group, Boko Haram which left many Churches burnt while hundreds of Christians were hunted down and killed.
On how he escaped, Samuel who said he is still being hunted by those who killed his father and siblings said he was rescued mysteriously during the violence by a good Samaritan.
“The good Samaritan, knowing that my family hails from Edo state was able to hide me for days before bundling me out of Kano and out of the country to Italy.”
It will be recalled that unlike in the past, the recent outbreak of violence in Kano, beyond economic and religious motivation, was just to kill and loot, and the target was Christian families and their children.
Sources say the attackers, most of them young men in their late teens or twenties, included younger boys, as young as 10 or 12, thought to be almajiris used a variety of weapons including knives, machetes, axes, and locally-made guns.
Witnesses described how the attackers, some of whom appeared intoxicated, rampaged through the town, leaving dead bodies lying in the streets.
