…Dedicates award to Governor Ortom

Following a detailed evaluation of the giant strides and achievements in revenue administration by the Executive Chairman of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service, BIRS, Chief (Mrs) Mimi Adzape-Orubibi, FCTI, CNA, the Board and management of Nigerian Newsdirect, a national media organisation in Nigeria at its 12th anniversary lecture and award ceremony bestowed the revenue administrator of the year in Nigeria award, 2022, on the Chairman.
Making the presentation of the award to Chief Orubibi, at the award ceremony held at Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, the Publisher/Editor-in-chief of the media organisation, Prince (Dr.) Samuel Ibiyemi said the nomination of the Chairman for the award was in recognition of the strategic innovations adopted by the Chairman to sustain and maintain a vibrant revenue system in Benue State which has improved transparency and accountability in revenue administration in the state.
He further added that an evaluation of the Chairman’s performance in office by the award Committee showed that the automation of tax processes by Chief Orubibi has blocked leakages in the revenue collection system which has improved revenue administration in the state.
The Editor-in-chief noted that the nomination of the Chairman passed all the assessment parameters satisfactorily, hence the award.
In her response while receiving the award, the Chairman thanked the the Board and management of Nigerian Newsdirect for the recognition and award, and noted that the award will encourage her to do more to improve the revenue experience in the state.
The Chairman further added that all that she has achieved in office so far was because of the support she has enjoyed working with Gov. Samuel Ortom whom she described as a man who has stood firmly in defending the people of the state against external aggressions.
She further dedicated the award to God Almighty and Gov. Samuel Ortom.
The ceremony also witnessed the presentation of awards to Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. Other award recipients were captains of industries, heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the country among others.
Meanwhile, the Board, Management and Staff of BIRS has congratulated the Executive Chairman for the award of Excellence given to her as the Revenue Administrator of the year in Nigeria.
In a goodwill message signed by the Board Secretary, Mr. James Shankyula, the Board described the award to the Chairman as a well-deserved honour.
