Biden marks 50th death anniversary of first wife, daughter

Sunday, December 18, 2022, made it exactly five decades since the death of Neila, the first wife of United States President, Joe Biden.

Biden and his family marked the anniversary in a memorial ceremony at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Roman Catholic Church, Delaware, CBS News reports.

The private event was attended by first lady, Jill Biden; the president’s children, Hunter and Ashley; and grandchildren.

After service, the family proceeded to the deceased’s grave, where they placed two large wreaths.

On the 18th of December 1972, Neila had been driving the couple’s children, 13-month-old Naomi, and her brothers, Beau, 4, and Hunter, 3, to shop for a Christmas tree when their vehicle was hit by a tractor-trailer.

Neila and Naomi lost their lives, while the couple’s two sons survived the incident with serious injuries.

Beau died in 2015 at 46 after battling brain cancer.

Biden remarried in 1977 to Jill, and their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Ashley.
