Benue: Suspected motorcycle thief set ablaze in Otukpo

A suspected motorcycle thief was set ablaze by an angry mob on Tuesday afternoon at the Otukpo main roundabout in Otukpo LGA of Benue State.

An anonymous eyewitness told newsmen that the suspected thief had allegedly snatched a motorcycle from its owner but was unlucky because the motorcycle ran out of fuel during his escape.

The eyewitness explained further that some commercial motorcyclists pursued the suspected criminal and caught up with him at Otukpo roundabout.

Another passerby, who also wished to remain anonymous, added that the suspect was a notorious motorcycle thief from Odejo in Agatu LGA of the state.

He said the mob quickly descended on him, beating him severely before setting him ablaze.

The burnt body remained exposed at the Otukpo main roundabout as passersby were unable to identify it at the time of the report.

Newsmen  recalls that Otukpo Town had recently suffered an armed robbery attack where several commercial banks were robbed, and numerous individuals, including security personnel, were killed.
