Benue: Senator Moro calls for release of abducted Owukpa residents

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro, has called for the immediate release of six of his constituents who were abducted from the Owukpa community in Ogbadibo Local Government Area recently.

News Men had earlier reported that six residents of Owukpa District were ambushed and abducted by suspected herdsmen along the Atamaka-Ugbugbu road while they were returning from the Aho-Ogbo local market.

The kidnappers had already contacted the victims’ families, demanding N500,000 each as ransom.

Senator Moro, in a statement from his media office on Tuesday, condemned the abduction, describing it as “very disheartening and most unfortunate.”

He decried the rising cases of kidnapping in Benue South, saying that the practice is anathema to the senatorial district.

He appealed to the perpetrators of the act to “turn a new leaf and stop further desecration of the land.”

The lawmaker charged security agents to “take steps to have the victims rescued as soon as possible so that they can reunite with their families.”
