Benue LG polls: APC flags off mega LG campaign
…As Alia tasks candidates to canvass vigorously to win for APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has flagged off a mega Local Government campaign for the October 5th council polls.
Benue Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, who performed the ceremony Wednesday in Gboko, at JS Tarka Stadium, charged the candidates to canvas vigorously in their respective local government areas to ensure victory.
Represented by his deputy, Barr Sam Ode mni, Alia urged the party supporters to ensure that the APC candidates won all the positions in the forthcoming elections.
He assured the conduct of free, fair and credible local government elections contrary to what has been happening in the past where all political parties have the enabling atmosphere to test their popularity.
The Governor further presented 23 APC flags to the duly elected APC chairmanship candidates and their deputies with a charge to prioritise their people’s interest.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the APC State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Chief Dr. Benjamin Omale said the committee has played a vital role in addressing issues of the aggrieved aspirants, ensuring that every voice was heard and addressed accordingly.
Omale said the committee’s efforts have been instrumental in fostering unity and understanding within the party.
He said the APC administration in the State was committed to delivering on their campaign promises.
He urged party supporters to come out en-mass on the 5th October, and vote for all candidates of the APC for better service delivery and for the general good of the people.
He further commended President Bola Tinubu, National Chairman APC and the working committee for their support in bringing peace to Benue APC and formation of the unity caretaker committee.
In his goodwill message, Sen Joseph Akaagerger who spoke for Zone A, assured that they remain supportive to the governor and would ensure victory for all the APC candidates on October 5th.
On his part, Barr Emmanuel Jime, Zone B maintained that the masses elected Governor Alia to restore the lost glory of the State and is doing just that for the state.
Barr Jime explained that the governor was only doing what the electorates asked him to do by executing people oriented projects and building human capacity.
He urged the local government chairmanship candidates to ensure that they replicate the governor’s style of administration at the grassroots.
Fielding questions from journalists, Hon. James Orgunga, APC State Organizing Secretary explained that the party has fielded candidates in all the chairmanship and councillorship positions for the election and was prepared to win all the positions in the forthcoming elections.
