Benue gov’ship polls : Alia floors co-contestants, becomes 6th civilian governor

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 Benue State governorship election Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has been declared winner of the Benue State Governorship election.

Professor Farouk Adamu Kuta of University of Science and Technology Minna, the returning officer for the 2023 Benue State Governorship election made the declaration shortly after the collation of election results across the 22 local government areas of the State, declared Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia having scored the highest votes cast 473,933 to defeat his co-contestant Titus Uba of the PDP in the governorship election and returned winner.

He explained that the declaration was done in line with the electoral law and the declaration was based on the results collated from the 22 local government areas of the state.

Farouk further explained that election was not conducted in Kwande Local Government Area due to the error of deploying INEC voting materials wrongly which is rescheduled to hold on the 21th. March , 2023.

Austin Agada, Chairman of APC, Benue State chapter told journalists that the victory of Alia was not a surprise following his general acceptability by Benue people, as he assured Benue people of the restoration of Benue lost glory.
