Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has again defeated his opponent, Hon. Titus Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the appeal court over the 2023 Governorship election outcome contest.
Uba who was defeated in the 2023 governorship election by Fr. Alia, challenged the outcome of the election at the petition/election tribunal but was defeated and proceeded to the Court of Appeal.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula on Monday while addressing Journalists in Makurdi the State Capital, on Monday on the outcome of the appeal court judgement, maintained that Alia’s administration is open for the defeated opposition party to join hands with the view to deliver dividends of democracy to Benue people.
The Chief Press Secretary also debunked and described the financial report against his principal going around that he has expended over N40 billion naira within five months in office as false and mischief fashioned by a group of persons who never meant well for the state.
Kula described Alia as a disciplined servant of the state who always ensured discipline in handling the state resources at his disposal, since he took leadership of the state as the Governor.
He explained that the Governor has been working round the clock to ensure he keeps to his campaign promises, despite meeting empty treasury on assumption of duty.
He further stated that the writer of the said story was out to attract cheap publicity.
He further explained that the money the Governor has spent since assumption of duty was evident in the construction of 16 roads, installation of street lights in Makurdi, renovation of Assembly complex and procurement and distribution of fertilizer to farmers at subsidised rate.
The CPS maintained that the Governor’s ears are open to constructive criticism that would help move Benue state forward and urged Journalists to always verify their facts before going to press.
