Benue civil service must be functional – Fr. Alia

The Benue State governor-elect , Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disclosed that his administration will make the state civil service, which is the engine room of any responsible governnment functional.

Fr. Alia made the disclosure to journalists on Wednesday in Makurdi shortly after he received his certificate of return from Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The governor elect further explained that the certificate of return being presented to him and all the state assembly members elected on the platform of APC was a great rest for the people of the state.

According to him , the presentation of certificates of return by INEC to winners of APC candidates in various political offices marked the beginning of a new Benue.

“I believe it’s very possible. I am very confident that the members elect will make a transition and work friendly enough and much beneficial for the great people of Benue.

“I remain hopeful in an assembly that will produce and create avenues for peace, economic growth by making all assertions meaningful for the state.

“We will apply this trust maximally, optimally to the benefit of the state. We will not take this trust of yours for granted. We remain indebted to all who make this day possible. We will remain loyal and patriotic to the tenets of our nation,” Alia maintained.

Fr. Alia promised that they would remain faithful and great citizens of the state and nation.

“We look forward to work with different groups and all political parties in the State. We are looking forward to taking our state to greater height and we must all be architect of a new face of Benue,” he stressed.
