Benue by-elections: Process strictly followed in Guma 1 state constituency – REC

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Benue state Prof. Sam Egwu has stated that all the processes in conducting the Guma 1 state assembly bye election in the state.are strictly followed.
Prof. Egwu explained that the accreditation and voting had commenced by 8.30am in all the six wards that made up Guma I State Constituency in the state.
The REC made the disclosure on Saturday while fielding questions to Journalists monitoring the exercise, attributed the early commencent of the exercise to the adequate preparation by the commission.
He further explained that 230 Ad – Hoc Presidng Officers were deployed for the election with all logostics in place.
“So far, there is no issue for now. Peaceful voting is going on. We did adequate enlightenment and sensitization,” Egwu said.
Earlier, the Commission of Police Benue state command Mr Emmanuel Adesina, agreed with the REC’s submission that the exercise was very peaceful and seamless, added that the electorates conducted themselves in an orderly manner.
Adesina assumed that adequate security personnel were deployed to maintain law and order, adding that the electorates were asked to come out enmasse and exercise their franchise without any fear.
