Benue State House Assembly on Tuesday approved the tenure extension of local government caretaker chairmen in the 23 local government areas for a period of six months.
The Speaker of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly Hon. Aondona Dajoh gave the nod as the decision of the house during Tuesday’s plenary following a request made by the Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia who nominated and sent names of the interim caretaker chairmen that shall steer the affairs of local government councils for next six months for confirmation.
The governor in his correspondence to the Assembly which was read by the Speaker, Aondona Dajoh, informed the house that the tenure of the current caretaker chairmen is scheduled to expire on the 5th of June, 2024 and added that the extension of the tenure of the caretaker chairmen will avail the state independent Electoral Commission BESIEC enough time to prepare and conduct the local government council elections.

Hon. Guda Terkula for Vandeikya, KONSHISHA, Philip Achuah, USHONGO Timothy Hembaor, KATSINA-ALA Shaku Justine, KWANDE Neji Vitalis Terhile, GBOKO Avar Verlumun, TARKA Roy Terna Ashirga, BURUKU Agber Cephas Iorkyaa and MAKURDI James Dwem.
Others are GWER-EAST Mrs. Comfort Agbo, GWER-WEST, Henry Agba, GUMA Unongo Simon Iorkehe, UKUM Iorzaa Victor, LOGO Benjamin Uzenda, ADO Mrs Gloria Ogebe Enotse, AGATU Barr. Philip Ebenyakwu, APA Ochai Alidu and OBI Adokpe Onum.
Also nominated as interim caretaker chairmen are Emmanuel Agada Aba for Ogbadibo, OHIMINI Adobo Idoko Fred, OTUKPO Dr. Wilson Eche, OKPOKWU Onyilo Douglas Omale and Ire Arubi for Oju.
The nominated interim caretaker Chairmen are to present their curriculum vitae to the state assembly this week for onward screening and confirmation.
