Benue APGA suspends Chairman, Salem
The State Working Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Benue on Monday suspended its state Chairman, Mr Paul Salem.
This is contained in a communique signed by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Moses Haruna and issued on Wednesday in Makurdi.
According to the communique, Salem is suspended to enable him to respond to the petition against him.
Haruna said that the suspension was to allow transparency and fairness.
He said that his stay in office would be unfair and counterproductive to the disciplinary committee hearing.
He also said that his deputy, Mr Samuel Idoko, should step in as the Acting Chairman to keep the party running and to forestall stagnation of party activities.
He noted that Salem was to reply to the petition against him in writing to the disciplinary committee as he had promised.
He said that an expanded stakeholders meeting would be convened a day after Salem might have submitted his reply to the committee and duly notify the committee.
He stated that all official party activities, correspondences and engagements would be henceforth be handled by Idoko.
