The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of Benin on Monday published the electoral calendar of the presidential election to be held in April.
Seventeen main activities make up this calendar whose implementation starts on Tuesday with the distribution of the sponsorship forms and the publication of documents to be provided by candidates.
Among other activities are the publication and posting of the autonomous national electoral list (LEPI) scheduled from 27 January to 10 February, the registration of candidatures from 1-4 February and the campaign for the first round which will take place from 26 March to 9 April.
The final results of the first round scheduled for 11 April will be announced between 23 and 25 April.
In the event of a second round, the campaign is scheduled from 26 April to 7 May and the ballot on 9 May.
The name of the elected candidate will be known between 18 and 23 May.
This election will cost the national budget more than 14 billion CFA francs.
