Bauchi Gov. preaches politics without bitterness

Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has cautioned members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to shun acts of bitterness, destruction of political posters and banners of opposition candidates in the state.

Mohammed, who made the call at a PDP stakeholders’ meeting, on Saturday in Bauchi. warned that his administration would not condone such undemocratic attitudes by individual or groups.

He said that his style of politics was premised on tolerance to woo members of the opposition parties to join the ruling PDP.

The Governor urged party loyalists to shun acts capable of causing rancour and disrupting the relative peace in the state.

“Our landmark achievements speak volume of our  legacies.

“I wish to use this forum to call on  our  supporters to play politics with decency and decorum,” he said.

Mohammed said that he was elated by the harmonious relationships, unity and brotherhood spirit within the party.

“We made giant strides in infrastructure, agriculture, health, education, youths and women empowerment among others.

“I’ll continue to count on your support for the success of the party,” he said.

Mohammed said that the successful conduct of the local councils election remained one of the legacy of his administration.

He lauded the 20 local council chairmen for outstanding performances especially in the area of social and economic empowerment of the people at the grassroots.

According to him, the state government is empowering thousands of youths and women under its Kaura Economic Empowerment Programme (KEEP) across the 20 local government areas.

Mohammed reiterated commitment to the provision of road infrastructure, electricity and water supply towards improving the living condition of the people.

On 2023 general elections, Mohammed said that he has no prepared candidates and pledged to work for the success of the party at the polls.

“I urge party supporters to work hard for the success of the party in future elections,” he said.

Also speaking, PDP Chairman in the state, Alhaji Hamza Akuyam said the meeting was designed to deliberate and fashion out strategies ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Akuyam who described the outcome of the meeting as fruitful, said the party would provide level playing ground for all candidates vying elective positions under its platform.
