Bauchi 2022 budget proposal scales 2nd reading
The 2022 appropriation estimate presented before the Bauchi State House of Assembly by Gov. Bala Mohammed, has scaled the second reading.
The budget proposal was presented before the House of Assembly at 10:00 am on Thursday.
The development followed a motion moved by the majority leader, Tijjani Aliyu (APC) representing Azare Madagala constituency shortly after the presentation.
The plenary was presided over by the Speaker of the House, Abubakar Suleiman, who assured of speedy passage of the budget.
According to him, the speedy action on the budget was informed by the existing cordial working relationship between the executive and the legislature.
Suleiman said the budget would improve the living standard of the people considering the key priority areas captured especially Health, Education, Agriculture, Youth and women empowerment.
He urged the government to direct all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to hasten defending their individual budgets before the relevant house committees for smooth passage.
The House has referred the budget to the Committee on appropriation for further legislative actions and adjourned sitting for Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the chairman house Committee on appropriation, Abdulkadir Umar Dewu, has expressed his satisfaction with the presentation of the budget.
He said his committee would work on time to allow the budget be passed before the end of the year.
The Special Adviser to Gov. Mohammed on legislative matters, Sani Mohammad Burra, said the budget is tagged budget on new and completion of ongoing projects.
Gov. Bala Mohammed has presented appropriation estimate of N195.3 billion before the state House of Assembly on Thursday.
