Bangladesh’s Chief Election Commissioner, Kazi Habibul Awal announced on Wednesday that the country’s presidential election would be held on Feb. 19.
According to the schedule, the nomination papers can be submitted to the Chief Election Commission (CEC) office by 4 p.m. local time on Feb. 12.
The incumbent president Abdul Hamid cannot be elected president for another term as the country’s constitution allows a maximum of two terms for a person in the post of president.
Hamid’s second and last tenure would expire on April 24.
