Bandits kill Christian missionaries, families, church members

…Hundreds displaced and several on the run for their lives..

A gang of bandits attacked several communities in Bukkuyunm local council area of Zamfara state which resulted into gruesome murders of several missionaries and church members. Several houses and churches were also ransacked and razed to the ground during the dastardly attacks.

Among those attacked by the terrorists were Evangelists Linus Nwafor and Josephine Nwafor, both missionaries of note in the local community and some other Christian faithful.

According to information gathered by our correspondents, the bandits were reported to have sent letters to the churches to vacate the community on the pain of death if they refused or failed to do so. However, on the night of January 8th, 2022, the bandits arrived in their numbers, overran the local vigilantes in a gun battle, killed several people and kidnapped scores others.

Further investigation revealed that Kenechukwu Emmanuel Nwafor, the son of Evangelist Nwafor, who also joined the local vigilantes in a bid to safeguard or protect his community, was almost captured on several occasions, but barely escaped with his dear life. When it became clearly obvious these fanatical bandits were hellbent on sending Kenechukwu to his untimely grave, he had to run for his life.

It was during the bandits’ attack in October 2022 that almost every member in Kenechukwu’s vigilante unit lost their lives while defending that he was last seen. All efforts made by his friends and the local church to find have been unfruitful so far.

Furthermore, the bandits were said to have threatened to come back for the few members of the vigilante who survived mentioning Kenechukwu Emmanuel Nwafor name in particular. They also boasted that since their network is all over Nigeria, Kenechukwu Emmanuel Nwafor and others will never be safe anywhere in the nation.
