…Hundreds displaced and several on the run for their lives

A gang of bandits attacked several communities in Aninri  local council area of Enugu state which resulted into gruesome murders of several missionaries and church members. Several houses and churches were also ransacked and razed to the ground during the dastardly attacks.

Among those attacked by the terrorists were Evangelists Onyemachi Orji and Onyemachi Josephine Njoku. both missionaries of note in the local community and some other Christian faithful.

According to information gathered by our correspondents, the bandits were reported to have sent letters to the churches at  Amokwe, Ameke, Ubenagu to vacate the community on the pain of death if they refused or failed to do so. However, on the night of February 6th, 2021, the bandits arrived in their numbers, overran the local vigilantes in a gun battle, killed several people and kidnapped scores others.

Further investigation revealed that Onyemachi Felix Orji, the son of Evangelist Onyemachi, who also joined the local vigilantes in a bid to safeguard or protect his community, was captured, Beaten and tortured, but barely escaped with his dear life. When it became clearly obvious these fanatical bandits were hellbent on sending Felix to join others in their untimely grave, he had to run for his life.

It was during the bandits’ attack in February 2022 that almost every member in Onyemachi’s vigilante unit lost their lives while defending that he was last seen. All efforts made by his friends and the local church to find have been unfruitful so far.
