Terrorists suspected to be bandits in their large numbers have kidnapped two nurses and an unspecified number of patients from Kaduna State Primary Health Care Centre.

The hoodlums were said to have targeted the nearby Government Day Secondary School, at 9:00 am on Monday, but stormed the Health Care Centre located at Kuyallo, eastern part of Birnin-Gwari LGA, having found out that the school is empty.

According to Musa Alhassan, a leader of a local vigilante group in the community, the bandits, who were seeking to abduct students, instead took two female nurses and several patients hostage, leaving the community in a state of panic.

He said, “When the bandits found the school empty, they turned their attention to the healthcare centre, located nearby. The bandits came to the school around 9:00 am, asking about the students, but when they found out the school was empty, they went to the healthcare centre and started kidnapping people.”

“The bandits, who were seeking to abduct students, instead took two female nurses and several patients hostage, leaving the community in a state of panic. The exact number of patients kidnapped is still unknown.

“The bandits came in the healthcare centre wielding guns and machetes. They started dragging people out of the hospital, and we couldn’t do anything to stop them.” he said.

Confirming the incident to NewsDirect Correspondent in Kaduna on Monday, via phone conversation, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Kaduna state Command ASP Mansur Hassan said that the incident happened and they have mobilised their men, strategically to ensure their rescue. Recall that the insurgents also revisited the millennium city where two freed Journalists and their families were abducted a few months ago, abducting some residents.

The new surge of terrorism in Kaduna state has led many to flee their homes, in communities prone to bandits’ attack due to the fear of being kidnapped.
