Bajowa lauds FG’s approval for Ondo Deep Sea Port

Retired Gen. Oluyemi Bajowa, an elder statesman says the Federal Government’s approval for the Ondo Deep Sea Port is a sign of good omen for the state.

Bajowa, a former Managing Director of the defunct Nigeria Airways, said this in a statement in Abuja on Saturday, saying that the Port would serve as a catalyst for socio-economic development of the state.

He said the approval was the most cheering news and congratulated Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo on the development.

He commended the governor for his effort toward the eventual approval.

“The approval to the best of my knowledge and understanding is the best dividend of democracy ever handed to Ondo by the federal government,” he said.
Bajowa said that the gesture was heartwarming.

“The Buhari’s administration has pushed the project beyond the level of mere paperwork.

“Haven been an effective player at the top echelon of political administration at the federal level in our country Nigeria for many years, I say that Akeredolu must have invested so much human and material resources into pushing this laudable project.

“This is to the point of convincing the President and the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to grant this approval even at the twilight of the tenure of Buhari’s Administration.

“Only a very forward-looking leadership can fathom the endless socio-economic possibilities and opportunities accruable to the government and the good people of Ondo via this phenomenal project both in the short run and on the long run,” he said.

Bajowa added: “Apart from boosting water transportation connectivity between Ondo and the rest of the world.

“It will automatically attract the construction of a rail line to the port, which will invariably connect Ondo to the national rail system for the very first time.”
