Azige, ex-PDP Chairman in Nasarawa, dies at 71, buried

The pioneer Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa, Mr Polycarp Azige, is dead.

The Chairman of PDP in the state, Mr Francis Orogu, confirmed Azige’s demise to the Newsmen on Monday in Lafia.

He said that Azige, also a former Nigerian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, died on Sunday at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) during a brief illness.

Orogu said the party in the state received the news of the death of its pioneer chairman with great shock.

He said that the deceased was buried on Monday in Duduguru village, Obi Local Government Area of the state.

The PDP chairman expressed his condolence to the family of the deceased, members of the party and the entire people of the state over the passing away of the former diplomat.

He prayed God to rest the soul of the deceased and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Reports state that until his death, Azige was a member of the PDP Board of Trustees.

He was also a former Commissioner, representing Nasarawa in the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
