Awe community to benefit from Nasarawa State Government’s medical outreach

Awe, Headquarters of Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State is to benefit from a free medical outreach to be conducted by the State Government.

This was disclosed by the State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, while on a working visit to Awe to inspect the renovated General Hospital and other health care facilities in the area.

Explaining the reason for his visit at the Palace of the 1st class Emir of Awe, Alhaji Abubakar Umar 11, Akabe said the exercise was with a view to assessing the renovation and upgrading of the General Hospital whose contract was awarded by the past administration in the state.

According to him, the Awe General Hospital which was previously in a bad state had received an intervention from partners thus, putting it to shape.

He reiterated the State Government’s desire to make the hospital one of the best health care facilities in the Southern Senatorial District of the state.

The deputy governor also said that apart from ensuring that the people of Awe benefited from free medical outreach, government would extend its Basic Health Care Insurance Programme to the area to enable the community to access health care services without hindrance.

He, however, informed the emir that his assessment of the general hospital revealed that the work done was short of the expected standard.

He said he would brief Gov. Abdullahi Sule on the situation and the next line of action, with the hope of making it better.

He also thanked the government for considering Awe as the pilot local government for the commencement of the second phase of its free health care programme.

Reports state that during the visit the deputy governor stressed the need for the redesigning of some structures to provide aesthetics and comfort for both patients and workers of the hospital.
