Avoid crimes, exhibit commitment towards scheme — Acting NYSC DG urges members

The Authorities of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged members to avoid crimes, exhibit commitment, dedication towards Scheme and to be a good ambassadors of their respective families and institutions of graduation.
The Acting Director-General of the NYSC, Mrs Christy Uba, said this in an address at the closing of the orientation course for the 2022 Batch ‘C’ Stream II Corps Members deployed to Imo, held at the permanent orientation camp, Eziama Obaire in Nkwerre council area of the state.
Uba, represented by the Scheme’s Coordinator in Imo, Mrs Rachael Idaewor, said such mentorship would enable the corps members develop their capacity and potential.
She, however, enjoined corps members to remain law-abiding and of good conduct, reminding them that the Scheme does not confer immunity from legal consequences and wrongdoing.
She also advised them to undertake personal and group Community Development Service (CDS) projects that would help add value to the living standard of members of their host communities.
“Objective mentorship helps to bring out the best in corps members, it is the way forward and I urge you to embrace it.
“May I also remind your dear corps members that the Scheme does not confer immunity on its members from legal consequences and wrongdoing. You must always remain law-abiding and of good conduct.
“Management remains committed to making adequate provisions for the safety and security of all corps members as the scheme is in liaison with security agencies and other critical stakeholders with a view to addressing your essential needs in any given service year,” she said.
She further affirmed the receipt of impressive reports on the corps members’ participation in the entrepreneurial training of the Scheme’s Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
She urged the corps members to build on the skills already acquired in camp, by availing themselves of further opportunities for post-camp training, adding that this would go a long way in empowering them to be self-reliance.
