Auto crash kills two, injures 15 others on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Auto crash has killed two persons while rendering 15 others various injuries after a speeding DAF truck overturned at a diversion point along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Report had it that the vehicle marked RBH 214 XA, carrying bags of onions and passengers, was travelling towards Lagos when the accident occurred around Eldorado axis on the expressway.

The accident which occurred around 6.30am led to gridlock, as the truck emptied the onions and passengers on the road.

The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident in Abeokuta.

He commiserated with the families of the deceased and warned drivers to reduce their speed while approaching diversion and construction zones in view of its attendant consequences.

Tamunominni Makinde supports over 700 widows with cash, foodstuffs, others in Ibadan

Over 700 widows have benefitted from an empowerment programme organized by the office of the wife of Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Tamunominni Makinde.

The empowerment, according to Mrs Makinde, was targeted at bringing succour to the widows who were selected across all the 33 Local Government areas of the state and also to ameliorate their sufferings.

Speaking at event held at the Agodi Government House, Ibadan, Mrs makinde said, “this present administrations under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde understand your plight and we will not relent in our efforts in giving you all the maximum support needed.”

The First Lady also en­couraged the widow to be self-reliant and be strong in meeting the needs of their children.

She said, “I want to advise you to be hard working, and also try as much as possible to acquire skill, this will help you to be self reliant and be able to take good care of your children.”

Mrs Makinde, who urged the philanthropists in the society to always render help to the widows and the less privileged said that such gesture would go a long way in fulfilling their dreams
