The Ogun State Police Command has placed a N2.5million reward for anybody with useful information that could lead to the arrest of those behind the recent attack on the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of Abeokuta South Local Government, Iyana Mortuary, Abeokuta.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Monday.

It would be recalled that some suspected arsonists were said to have set the INEC office ablaze precisely around 1:00am early morning of Thursday, November 10, 2022.

The hoodlums said to be about eight had reportedly scaled the perimeter fence, jumped into the premises and set the INEC building on fire from the rear, allegedly with loaves of bread soaked with petroleum.

According to the PPRO, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had since directed the State Criminal Investigation Departments of the Command, to commence investigation, with the view to unravel the arsonists behind the devilish act.

“In furtherance to the directive to get to the root of the matter, and bring the perpetrators to justice, the Command has resolved to reward anybody with credible information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators with N2.5 million.

“In view of this, any member of the public with useful information that will assist the command should come forward, and be rest assured that such information will be treated with utmost confidentiality,” he said.
