The leaders of Ijesa Land have eulogised Governor Adegboyega Oyetola over the speedy reconstruction of Atakumosa Market which was engulfed by fire last year.
Elder Kunle Odeyemi who spoke on behalf of the leaders at a market rally organised by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye appreciated Oyetola for his show of love for the people of Ijesa land.
Recall that, last year, an inferno razed part of the Atakumosa Central Market, Adeti, Ilesha where goods worth millions of naira were destroyed.
The Oyetola-led administration, through its proactive response, intervened by constructing a new market complex for the residents.
Odeyemi, the APC leader in Ijesha Land commended the good gesture of Governor Oyetola on the reconstruction of Atakumosa Market which was enraged by the terrible conflagration, saying his show of love for the people of Ijesa Land will be reciprocated with massive support at election.
At the market rally held at the popular Ibokun and Atakumosa markets, he emphasised that the campaign against covid-19 by Oyetola’s administration has been effective since its inception, saying supporting the government’s policies on COVID-19 by members of the public is the only key that can suppress the pandemic.
He said, “The government is seriously on top of curtailing the resurgence of Covid-19 with its massive campaign against the deadly disease.
“It behoves on the people of the state to support the effort of the government in combating pandemic through strong compliance with the protocols such as wearing of nose masks, using of alcohol-based sanitiser, maintaining social distance among other guidelines.
“People are urged to take a cue from several Covid-19 victims who have lost their lives due to the deadly nature of the pandemic.”
In his remarks, Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye said Covid-19 sensitisation was necessary against the backdrop of the resurgence of the pandemic prompting the entire world as the government cannot afford to go for another lockdown or closure of markets.
According to him, “It is important for us to discard the erroneous belief and wake up to the present reality that Covid-19 is real and claiming many lives.
“It is, therefore, pertinent for everyone to accept that the pan demon is not over yet and we must prepare to win the war against it.
“For these reasons, it’s time for us to brace up by strictly adhering to safety regulations of physical and social distancing, hand washing, use of face mask in public places, among other precautionary measures.”
