AT LEAST THERE’S HOPE

By Rotimi Makinde

For many years now, I have lived in fear, facing a future of uncertainty. I escaped my yesterday with unsettled mind, today is not gone yet, yesterday and today are not so kind.

Oh! I weep for those days that filled my eyes with Silver Tears. I care for the nation. I was born because of my people, no doubt about that, we are all in it together; the nation is like a yard in the prison, people are escaping from one sorrow to the other; yet in the same prison yard and not in anyway near the open. Nigeria Jagajaga rent the air, the popular songs is “ki nsa ti lowo, Ole lo bomo je, anyway, any how Ki n sa ti lowo.. That is the song from our teeming youths” which mean, let me just have money, anyway any how. No one care for what to do again about getting rich. Ritual, kidnapping and bandit becomes a booming bussiness… Anything now goes. The criminals and rogues may be my next neighbour, everybody lives in fear… I am helpless. I may not even care about myself but what about those innocent old ones, kids and less privileged whose living and feeding depends on my going out and coming back safely?

We should care for those parents, of ours, brothers and sisters who had chosen to be our family at no fault of theirs. Those saddles as our protector, the army, the police and many of them are falling prey at no fault from them to the criminals. Their crime was that they had no alternative but to join the force to survive. The rich are also crying. I don’t care if my eyes get sore, I take my seat on the balcony, I can’t go out, yeah! my vehicle battery is dead for I dare not ride my flamboyant vehicle any longer. My native clothes are not needed for now, it must be T.shirt, knickers or Jean trousers, dye for my grey hair may not help me, God forbid if it rains…. Nigeria Jagajaga was Idris Abdulkarim song that refused to go off the shelves and air waves .

And i pray unto God to let the sun come melt my pain. All these makes it so hard to bear, hard to live and hard to care. Yeah! yeah! yeah!

Those youths actually voted at federal, state and local governments levels but today, they are simply demanding a New Nigeria, Attitudinal and real change they are clamouring for. Who is that person who never wishes to have a better Nigeria and would start to shoot the youths at sight? The enemies rumoured Tinubu. They called him names and that is where I began my research about this uncommon personality. I made several move, read so many book and I interviewed many before I zeroed it on this most talk about politician in Nigeria.

A peep into my heart would confirm to you readers that I am weeping for my dear nation, for I remain caged and my ideas for a better society….

I joined them in forming SWAGA’23, a group routing for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to contest for presidency come 2023. He is eminently qualified and with one united team with trust in the future. We went round the South West and met with about 300 traditional rulers which includes Ooni of Ile Ife and the Alaafin of Oyo.
Finally, AsiwajuBola Ahmed Tinubu came to ile ife and that becomes the beginning of hope and the concrete foundation of a better Nigeria.
