ASUU strike: FUD announces Oct. 30 as resumption date

As the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) suspended  its eight-month-old industrial action, the Federal University, Dutse has announced October 30 as resumption date for academic activities in the school.

It would be recalled that ASUU embarked on an industrial action on February 14, which crippled educational activities in Nigerian universities for eight months, forcing many academic and non academic staff to engage in other businesses.

Nigerian NewsDirect gathered that the university, after the 55th emergency meeting of its Senate on Wednesday approved Monday, 31st of October, 2022 as resumption date for academic activities in continuation of 2020/2021 academic session.

From the statement released, students are expected to resume on 31st of October, as lectures commence immediately to complete the interrupted second semester, which will last  for four week before sitting for the second semester examinations.

The second semester examination is scheduled to hold between 5th of December and December 31. Marking of scripts and collation of results will be between December 31 and January 14, 2023.

Meanwhile, departmental board meetings will hold on 16th and 17th of January, leaving faculty board meeting for 18th to 20th of January.

According to the paper signed by the registrar of the university. Abubakar Mijin Yawa, the Senate Business Committee’s (SBC) meeting will take place on 23rd and 24th of January, 2023.

He added that the commencement of new academic session will start on February 6, 2023.

Therefore, the university has directed the staff and students to note the adjustments accordingly.
