Adeniyi Adams, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and an aspirant in the forthcoming Lagos State chairmanship congress, has said that as a grassroots politician he has the capacity to unite the Lagos State PDP members.
He said the crisis in the party could have been borne out of love for the party on both sides, from Deji Doherty angle and even from the late Dr Dominic’s angle, stressing that a new dawn has come for the Lagos PDP with the congress around the corner.
“The crisis has been all about love for the party but now that we are going into a new congress I don’t see why we cannot get our arts together. It is for this reason that I will say that I am the most favoured aspirant because I am a bridge builder and a grassroots politician.
“If you want to categorize all these people as factions, I am the person who can walk into Chief Bode George’s place, go to Dr Abimbola Ogiunkelu’s place and even to Deji Doherty’s place. When Dr Dominic was alive. I could pick up my phone and call him. You see, that is the kind of leadership that I can provide. We are going to get it right once the congresses are done,” he said.
While responding to a question as to the allegation of the existence of moles in the party, Adams said, “When you talk about moles I will say that they are just allegations because in politics there must be allegations against one person or the other and it doesn’t mean the allegations are correct. Basically, it depends on the direction and the vision of the leader to be able to handle all of that.
“My leadership style will be inclusive. I am going to carry everybody along. When a party is doing well a mole will feel very uncomfortable, he or she can change. We have seen such cases before where moles changed and became loyal to the side that they went to spy.
“People are tired of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but they may not have seen that level of confidence in us that they expected, but with the right set of leadership that will be a thing of the past,” Adams said.
