Arrest Wike immediately over comments inciting violence Clark urges IG

Chief Edwin Clark, a prominent Ijaw leader, has called on Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to arrest Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, due to Wike’s threat to burn states led by governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike made this threat during a PDP state congress at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt, warning PDP governors to avoid interfering in the party’s affairs in Rivers State.

At a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Clark condemned Wike’s remarks as a serious affront to President Bola Tinubu, who appointed him. He characterized the comments as “unbridled” and potentially treasonous, suggesting they could incite violence.

Clark also noted that individuals like Omoyele Sowore and #EndBadGovernance protesters had been arrested for similar offenses and urged the IG to take comparable action against Wike, demanding that he retract his statements.
