Army troops neutralize scores of terrorists in Katsina, Zamfara, recover arms

Troops of the Nigerian Army have again neutralized over eleven armed bandits between Anka – Bagega road and in Zamfara State.

The notorious bandits blocked the road to prevent road users from passing the axis and to kidnap people plying the road.

It was also learnt that the Army troops on receiving a distress call quickly mobilized to the scene and engaged the terrorists in a gun duel, forcing the criminals to flee into the forest.

According to the Army authority, the move was in continuation of its efforts to dislodge bandits in that axis.

Recently, the Army troops conducted two separate operations in Zamfara and Katsina States, which led to the clearing of roads blocked by terrorists to kidnap innocent people.

One AK-47 rifle, two AK 47 Magazines, five rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and one motorcycle were recovered from the terrorists.

The army also said its troops, in a separate operation in Katsina State, cleared several insurgents’ camps within Yar’Malamai and Hamfudin general areas in Faskari Local Government Area

One bandit was eliminated in the aftermath of a shootout.

The troops also recovered one locally fabricated gun, two motorcycles, and 6 mobile phones among other items.
