Armed robbers beat watchmen, loot water scheme in Jigawa

Hoodlums have attacked watchmen and vandalized a water scheme in the Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Commissioner for Water Resources, Ibrahim Garba confirmed the incident when he visited the station on Monday.

He said the criminals beat up the security men and stole more than N20 million properties in the station last Friday.

He expressed worry over the situation and said the government will take strict action against saboteurs of its efforts to provide potable drinking water to the people of the state.

“This is really sad. The government is doing its best to provide portable and clean water to the populace and at the same time some criminals are sabotaging the effort.

“This is the first time the incident happened here since its creation over 50 years ago.

“This also happened in Kazaure where about 20 bore wells were destroyed, wires were dug up and taken away, It also happened in Babura, Gumel, and Dutse and it happened here,” he said.

He noted that security agencies are working hard to arrest the suspected criminals.
