Aradel, Conoil other stocks soar as investors gain N188bn

Investors in the Nigerian equities market gained N188 billion at the close of trading on Friday.

This followed a surge in the share prices of stocks like Aradel, Conoil and John Holt amongst others on the trading floor.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization increased to N58.7 trillion from N58.5 trillion recorded by the bourse on Thursday.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 97,236.19 from 96,924.86 recorded the previous day.

The market breadth was positive as 29 stocks advanced and 23 stocks declined, while 70 stocks remained unchanged in 8,818 deals.

Aradel, Conoil, John Holt led other gainers with 10 percent, 9.94 percent and 9.82 percent growth each in share prices to close at N485.30, N260.00, and N4.81 from the previous N441.20, N236.50 and N4.38 per share.

MEYER, ABBEYBDS, and ETERNA led other price decliners with 9.98 percent, 9.83 percent, and 9.82 percent decline each in share prices to close at N7.67, N2.66, and N24.80 from the previous N8.52, N2.95 and N27.50 per share.

On the volume index, STERLING BANK led trading with 119 million shares in 184 deals followed by ELLAH LAKES which traded 91 million shares in 60 deals.

ACCESS CORP traded 54 million shares in 698 deals.

On the value index, ARADEL traded stocks worth N1.4 billion in 495 deals followed by OANDO which traded equities worth N1.3 billion in 959 deals.
