Applicant bags 4 months jail term for destroying house windows

A Grade I Area Court, Mpape, Abuja, on Monday sentenced an applicant, Chukwunonso Onah to four months imprisonment for destroying house windows worth N200, 000.

The Judge, Salihu Ibrahim sentenced Onah after he pleaded guilty to malicious damage.

Ibrahim gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N10, 000.

The judge also ordered the convict to pay N60, 000 as compensation to the complainant.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, D.F. Abah told the court that the convict trespassed into the complainant’s compound and broke all the glass windows of his three-bedroom apartment.

During police investigation Abah said, the convict confessed to the crime.

Abah said the matter was reported at the Mpape Police Station by Moses Ugwu of Eneje Layout, Mpape, Abuja.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 342 and 377 of the Penal Code
