APGA women endorse Soludo for 2nd term
The Women’s Wing of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State has officially endorsed Governor Chukwuma Soludo for a second term in the November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election.
The endorsement was made public on Thursday in Awka during the 2025 Anambra State Women Summit, which took place at the APGA South-East Regional Office.
Themed “Together We Rise: Achieving the Best Through Women,” the summit served as a platform to rally support for Governor Soludo’s continued leadership.
Mrs Esther Onyekesi, the APGA Women Leader in Anambra and Convener of the summit, highlighted that the endorsement stemmed from the governor’s achievements across various sectors.
“Soludo has made remarkable strides in all areas, particularly in healthcare and security,” she said.
She noted that his administration had significantly improved the health sector, ensuring that all pregnant women in Anambra, regardless of background, receive free antenatal and delivery care in government hospitals.
Additionally, Onyekesi praised the state’s educational policies, which provide free schooling for children, as well as youth empowerment initiatives through government-funded skill acquisition programmes.
“We now sleep with both eyes closed because of the improved security situation,” she added.
The APGA Women’s Wing urged opposition candidates to consider withdrawing from the race, allowing Soludo to complete his long-term developmental agenda, particularly his Vision 2070 strategy aimed at transforming Anambra into a clean, green, peaceful, and economically prosperous state.
Responding to the endorsement, Dr Nonye Soludo, the wife of the governor, expressed her gratitude to the women for their overwhelming support.
She emphasised that her husband’s government prioritises women’s empowerment, recognising their role in nation-building.
“The turnout at this summit is proof of your trust in my husband’s leadership,” she said.
She reassured them that Governor Soludo remains committed to enhancing the welfare and prosperity of women in Anambra State.
