The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has urged youth in the state not to participate in the planned nationwide protest, describing it as a potential tool for “agents of destruction” to wreak havoc on the country.

The APC in Jigawa State has cautioned youth in the state against joining the planned nationwide protest, scheduled to hold from August 1-10, 2024. The state party chairman, Alh Aminu Sani Gumel, warned that the protest could be hijacked by “agents of destruction” and criminal-minded individuals who do not mean well for the nation.

According to Gumel, “Peaceful and purposeful demonstration is part of the constitutional rights of citizens, but those agitating for the August nationwide demonstration are faceless and lack sincere motives.”

He emphasised that the APC believes in democratic processes to resolve disagreements and national challenges, rather than resorting to destructive means.

Gumel expressed concern about the current social and economic challenges but advised against poorly organised and violent demonstrations, saying they would not solve the problems.

He assured Nigerians that the APC-led Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu is committed to working for the betterment of the nation, with policies and programs geared towards making the country better for all.

“We as party leaders are very concerned about the current social and economic challenges, and it is time for every good citizen to join hands with the government to tackle the challenges for sustainable peace, growth, and development,” Gumel said.
