Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo state, on Tuesday in Akure staged a peaceful protest at the state secretariat of the party to challenge alleged imposition of party leaders in the area on the just concluded ward congress.

The protesting members, who were at the party secretariat, however, alleged the list of consensus candidates submitted by the leadership to the Chairman of the Congress Committee, Mr. Gboyega Isiaka at Isarun had been doctored.

Alex Oladimeji, the chairman of the local government, while appealing to the protesters, assured them that the leadership of the party would attend to their grievances.

According to him, the list of consensus candidate submitted could not be tampered with most especially that it was submitted to the chairman of the Congress Committee.

“My people are protesting because of the list they submitted at the end of the just concluded ward congress was jettisoned by the state party chairman, and when the consensus list got to the party secretariat, the party members got a hint that some persons wanted to doctor the leadership’s decision.

“I want to appeal to our state Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin to allow peace to reign in Ifedore. He should allow the people to take decision by themselves. They should come to our aide, they should call us together and agree,” Oladimeji said.

Adebusuyi Idowu, a former Chief Whip of the state House Assembly, who also addressed the protesters, disclosed that all the leaders of the party across the 10 wards in the local government agreed on the 270 consensus members to occupy the executive positions in the 10 wards.

He explained that they were surprised to receive information that about three persons among the leaders in the party, who were part of decision on the consensus list, allegedly went behind their back to doctor the list.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the party has promised to resolve any complaint lodged by the leadership and members of the party in the council.building of NDLEA staff quarters in the state.
