The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to stop treating with levity, security issues affecting the state.
The Party also noted that it was worried over the insecurity in Osun, particularly before, during and after the general elections across the country.
The party in a statement by its acting chairman, Tajudeen Lawal on Monday, also recalled that no fewer than 30 members of the opposition APC members were allegedly killed by thugs, reportedly sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
While insisting that Governor Adeleke is not getting it right in securing the lives of residents and their property, the party lamented that in the past week, specifically on Wednesday and Friday, two kidnapping incidents occurred along the Osogbo-Ikirun road.
“As of the time of making this statement with the exception of a woman whose release was secured by the police on Sunday, the victims were said to still be in captivity.
“A caring governor would have either condemned the two kidnapping incidents in his territory within three days or rushed back from Abuja as the number one security officer of the state.
“It is saddening that as I speak, Governor Adeleke has no comment of condemnation to his credit on all the murder incidents that happened so far in his four-month-old administration.
“His handling of Osun affairs has shown that governance of a state is not a tea party which is the reason why it is not the best arrangement to make the state a laboratory for greenhorns in the management of the affairs of human beings and resources,” the acting state APC chairman hinted.”
Osun APC justified its claim of thuggery activities being on the rise by narrating how Governor Adeleke denied being attacked by thugs, only for them to be arraigned in court.
Recall that the Nigeria Police, Osun Command had disclosed that a female passenger among those abducted on Friday along the Osogbo-Ikirun Road, has been released.
Yemisi Opalola, the Osun Police Command spokesperson also disclosed that efforts to secure the release of the other abductees have commenced.
In the early hours of Friday last week, passengers in a commercial vehicle travelling on the Osogbo-Ikirun Road were abducted, except the driver, who managed to escape.
Osun has been generally referred to as one of the most peaceful states in the country until the 2023 general elections where pockets of violent attacks were recorded.
The most affected part of the state was the Osun East Senatorial District comprising of the Ife and Ijesa zones.
