One of the newly elected officers at the just concluded National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former chairman of Ondo State APC, Honourable Isaac Kekemeke has said all is now set for the party to deliver effectively.
The National Vice Chairman-elect (South West) of the party said this while addressing journalists at the Convention ground.
According to him, APC as a party has been through a lot recently and having conducted a successful convention, he’s very optimistic that the party more than ever will run an all inclusive leadership and deliver on its mandate to the good people of Nigeria.
He said, “It was a challenging time for our great party but as it were, we were able to bring ourselves together for the national convention believing that our party will be better and stronger.
“The new National Working Committee will be all inclusive, very sober and will reach out to everyone. So once again as a party we can disappoint the pessimists because we believe that what put us together for our country is much more than that which divides us, I hope that our leadership will do everything to ensure that our party and our nation are better than we met it.”
Speaking on the scorecards of APC, Kekemeke said even though he can’t rate the party hundred percent in terms of achievements, it’s obvious it has delivered and still delivering. He added that by the time APC must have spent 16 years in office like PDP did, Nigeria will not remain the same.
“The truth is APC has delivered but I see so much more to be done. The problems are enormous but when you compare them to the solution, you may think that we haven’t moved. We have moved but the problems are there.
“In the areas of transportation and infrastructure, APC is doing its best but challenges in the economy, employment are refusing to go away even though we are making landmark achievements in agriculture and food sufficiency, we have not been able to control inflation, those are challenges. No nation ever overcomes challenges overnight. It is a gradual process, all it requires is commitment on the part of leadership.
“President Buhari would have finished his 8 years by next year May and then the new government that we are going to be bringing in in APC should be able to continue from there and in the areas where he is weak, they consolidate and then we move.
“The PDP rather than working very hard and sell itself to Nigerians keeps emphasising the weaknesses of the APC. That’s a bad campaign strategy. They should be talking about how they are better than APC and how they will do better. That does not automatically put them into power, voting PDP is like going back into Egypt. In their 16 years in power, they didn’t put the structure on ground for Nigeria to grow, so they can’t be trusted with power. I believe if APC has 16 years, Nigeria will not be the same.”
