The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has condemned in strong terms the new phase of attacks on Benue communities, particularly Kwande and Gwer-West by men suspected to be herders.

Contained in a press statement signed by Isaac Uzaan , Media Aide to Fr. Alia, expressed worry why the herdsmen invasion of Benue communities and gruesome murder of innocent citizens has become a new normal that could not be curtailed.

The Benue APC gubernatorial candidate faulted the resurgence of the brutal killings of Benue citizens, wondering why such was coming at the heels of the presidential and national assembly elections that produced His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

While calling on security agencies to deploy enough personnel and intensify surveillance at the troubled areas, Fr. Alia warned those who may be cashing – in on insecurity in Benue State and also using it for political gains to have a rethink and consider turning a new leaf immediately to avert the wrath of God.

The priest of God wondered in particular why Benue State has remained vulnerable to such attacks considering the number of security agencies domiciled in the state, and answerable to the state Chief Security Officer.

Fr. Alia who promised to put a stop to this mayhem, deeply sympathized with the affected families and prayed God to console those who lost their loved ones during the invasion.

He called on Benue people not to be deterred but come out en masse just as they did during the presidential and national assembly elections and vote for him as their governor and also vote-in state legislative members who would work together with him to implement policies that would better the lots of Benue people.
